A Lesson for Classless Liberals

Well, here we are a couple months after Election Day and we are finally going to see the much beloved Barack Obama sworn in as our 44th President of these incredible United States of America.  As one contemplates what has happened since Election Day, one has to marvel at how smooth this transition has been and how accepting the country has been in the transition of, arguably, the greatest and most powerful position in the world.  Today our President Bush will hand this powerful office over to our President Obama and this makes me wonder what our President Obama's staff will find when they enter their offices today.  Will they find computer keyboards that have the "O" key removed?  Will they find new derogatory signs posted on offices like "The Office of Strategery"?  I don't think so.  As liberals praise our President Obama for this smooth transition they should also look to our President George W. Bush and thank him for such a smooth and respectful transition from one person to another.  The reason the Bush Administration has shown such respect is for a couple reasons.  Reasons that the classless liberals within the Clinton Administration did not understand:

1.   The Office of the President is to be respected as the most amazing position in world history and should not be disrespected just because they do not like the person or agree with the person's views.

2.   Regardless of who holds this great office, this person is "Our" President and the President for everyone within the United States and not just for those that agree with him.

The first was that the Office needs to be respected.  From day one, liberals demonized George W. Bush and vocally disrespected him both here and abroad.  This is disgraceful and shows just how classless these liberals are.  There were many decisions that George W. Bush made that conservatives did not agree with but he made these decisions because he felt they were the best for the country and he felt that the Office should be above politics.  Regardless of how many liberal decisions George W. Bush would make, these liberals would not like him nor would they respect him any more than they did when he was elected.  He could do no right with these classless mongrels.

The second was the fact that the President is everyone’s President.  I don't agree with most of Mr. Obama's policies but I know that he is my President as well as others and that he will be given my respect and support.  I will certainly be vocal when I disagree with him but it will always be in a respectful and humble manner.  I will not throw my shoe at him or call him names like a child.  When he makes decisions that I feel are best for our country I will also be vocal in my support for him.  Just as George W. Bush was the President for all of the United States, so too will President Obama be.

I will not say that all conservatives do everything in an appropriate way but I will say that conservatives have been much more open to giving Mr. Obama the benefit of the doubt than our liberal counterparts were for George W. Bush.  I can only hope that these classless liberals will learn a lesson from those conservatives and the next time a Republican is elected to this office (and there will be another Republican elected), they will show him or her the same respect that we have given this president from the Democratic Party.
